Default Pimp my Yugo - last one being produced

Link with great video!
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7737270.stm

The last ever Yugo car rolls off the production line in Serbia on 20 November 2008. Often ridiculed, the car had been one of the cheapest in the world and was also the most famous export from the former Yugoslavia.
The BBC's Helen Fawkes went to a rally held by Yugo owners where they show off the improvements they have made to their cars.

I remember seeing the Yugo exhibit @ the LA Auto Show a long time ago (10-12 years ago?) The one I remember the most vividly was the toaster one It had giant toast in it !

we had thousands of them... best part were Fiat sourced engines which cant live past 60k miles without work on them... then again, parts were very cheap.

Yugo was never cheap... It was cheap when exported because government of Yugoslavioa wanted to have "halo" export product and offered it at dirt cheap prices. It was in fact twice as expensive in Yugoslavia than in USA, and we had to wait for 5-10 years to get it (there were sign up/waiting lists). If you wanted some other car, you would have to pay 130% custom fees + taxes.

I liked it when the reporter asked the first owner how much his Yugo had cost and he replied "700 Euros". Then she asked how much it was worth now and I was dying for somone to say "about 200 Euros".

I think NATO did them a favour by bombing the factory.
