Keep in mind this is anything but scientific. It says more about the owners who respond than it does about the vehicles. Agreed though, it's funny how Rover always seems to make the bottom of the list no matter who is compiling it. And people with money still manage to think they're buying something special.

Nissan showed striking improvements, with the perennially troublesome Armada SUV, Titan pickup, and Infiniti QX56 SUV finally gaining average reliability
Here's a sign that, after several awful years, they may finally be getting the bugs out of that Nissan-Infiniti plant in Canton, MS, where those vehicles are built.

Land Rovers and Range Rovers have not only a rather dedicated customer base, but also the image of British upmarket aristocracy, despite their constant unreliability. When they DO run properly, they are superb off-road vehicles, offering comfort and sophistication combined with rugged rock-climbing and creek-fording ability. The only problem is that the Toyota Land Cruiser/Lexus LX570 also are superb of-road and refined....and have much better reliability.

CR also does go out and buys the cars, and test them out for awhile and report on them, and compare them to how the readers experience with them, and with ~2 million responses, it is really hard to refute their claims

+1 :agreed. CR's "methodology" means you take just about any of their info with a large grain of salt. Some of their "sensible" readers congratulate themselves on what they bought and others ***** like hell.

5th place for Lexus, beaten by their own Toyota and Scion brands never mind Acura/Honda. A shame. Still not a bad showing overall.

Honda came in number one followed by Acura, Scion and Subaru. For the first time in history, The Toyota Camry V6 isn’t recommended by the Consumer Reports.
Many strongly use Consumer Reports recommendations in determining their next purchase. I can say that I have been pleased with most of their choices from dishwashers to cars. Nice job to Subaru.

At least the venerable SC430 still ranks #1 again in the sporty category. Interesting that the more complicated GS450h outranked the other GS models. What are the issues plaguing the GSAWD? Only average this year from below average last year.

Most reliable upscale/luxury

Infiniti M35 (RWD)
Lexus IS 250
Acura TSX (2008)
Infiniti G35 Sedan (RWD)
Acura TL (2008)
Lexus GS450h Hybrid*

UNRELIABLE upscale
Cadillac STS V8
Mercedes E class V8

last year, problem with GS350 AWD were stereos, which they share with other GS models :P.

Lexus was very good 5th - compared to MB and BMW who were >12... MB had few others as worst rated as well...
