E63 has less torque then the E55? how could that be? what are the numbers?
Supercharged engines tend to have more torque, especially in the low end, compared to naturally aspirated engines. The 63 engine is naturally aspirated, so it has to rev to get to its torque peak.
The acceleration of the 55 engine has been described as being hit in the back by a bus when you floor it from a stop. The 63 engine builds torque over time so the push in the back isn't as big, but still big by most standards.

that's right, FI engines usually have more low end tq, and give you more push into the seat feel
Pretty much every V8 and V12 AMG engine is just indescribable in terms of pure power and torque. Next up you should try the 6.0L biturbo V12 they put out.
IIRC torque is somewhere in the low/mid 7xx range!
Why? Have you driven an E63 and walked away unimpressed?
6.4L biturbo v12 in the AMG's with those torque numbers you're quoting
true autobahn bomber. Torque monster. I hope the japanese catch up in this arena of cars. Its really not a car that will ever sell well because of the price, but the japanese need to step into this arena to have dominated the entire market. ( large trucks as well need a little work, although they are getting much better)

guys lets not forget where the power is made on each engine, i just rememberd this myself:
the 6.3 needs to wait until near redline for all its power and most of its torque comes near the same RPM, where the 5.5s/c builds power much much quicker and tails off near the top end.
