Chevrolet Cruze -- Price released (updated)
That looks awesome but unfortunately it's not a 2009 model for us in the US. 2010 model at best, possibly 2011.
Mileage is supposed to be pretty killer on this car and I also love the interior design. LOVE it.
However my lease is up October 2009 and there's no way this car will be out in the US by then from what I've heard.

And Suzuki offers Navi as standard equipment on its cars but no one seems to care about that cause its a Suzuki.
Either way its exciting to see where Chevy has come from the past 2-3 decades and where they are going. Its looking a hell of a lot stronger than Toyotas that's for sure.

I think it has potential!
Have to wait for a road test to tell if the driving dynamics are up to the Pontiac G6 and G8 rentals I've been driving when away on business. If this car is screwed together as tightly as those two, GM could have a solid hit on their hands.

Cruze is in control
"Cruze is the most significant car at the show," declares Jake Fisher, senior auto engineer at influential Consumer Reports.
Not only should Cruze finally give GM a credible rival to the dominant Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla, it's also a perfect example of why gas engines aren't yet headed for the retirement home.
Cruze's engine is a 1.4-liter four-cylinder – the smallest in any GM car in North America. It is fitted with a turbocharger to boost power to the level of a bigger engine, yet still be rated 37 miles per gallon on the highway, says Chuck Russell, vehicle line director for Cruze. A high-efficiency model should be rated 40 mpg on the highway, he says.
Other automakers also are doing more with less. When average gas prices topped $4 a gallon in the summer of 2008, they began looking for alternatives to their thirsty V-8 engines. Now they are retreating from V-6s, saying their four-bangers will have plenty of pep even for midsize and larger vehicles. The Los Angeles auto show is rife with examples:

Even assuming 40 mpg is accurate, it is a pretty solid improvement over the Cobalt, which was already class-leading in highway fuel economy... so if they break their own class leader's rating by 10% I'd say it's still well done.
The turbo 4 will likely feel far more powerful than the Cobalt due to a much flatter torque curve that requires less revving.
The Cobalt was borderline junk IMO in terms of interior materials, but the new Cruze fixes that in a major way. Very nice handling and comfort upgrade too.
I have to say that I have never ever been a fan of GM ( at all ) but I am seeing the effort they are putting into the design of their new vehicles. I saw this and was not only impressed by the great looks and almost euro styling, but the price is very aggressive as well.
I have to say GM is redeeming themselves nicely. Its going to take a line of cars just as nicely done as this one but you can tell the comitment is there. I hope the execution of the plans will continue unhindered

Damn, probably around $27k fully loaded. Tons of other options to think about other than a 130hp compact sedan. I must be out of touch with cars in this class as I think $17k is kind of high too.
