I swear I read somewhere a long long time ago that BMW would never do M versions of big heavy cars or something to that effect. This is why there was never an M version of the 7 series. Now they decide to do M versions of X5's and X6's, wtf?

Just wow.

I'm going to start building my own cars from scratch. Is nothing in the automotive world sacred anymore?

makes no difference for the US market since the E46 CSL never made it to the US shores

IMO, they should just give up the e90 m3 period, they went from my favorite car (e46) in the world to this piece of junk...

With more rumors of a lightweight IS-F, I cannot believe a CSL wont' be made. It might be my fav BMW, the E46 CSL.

Great timing to introduce a performance SUV.

The world really needs faster SUVs.... seriously, are consumers asking for them?

Good luck with that, BMW.

How about selling some of those standard X6 turds first?

fisrt off I would like to start with a list of modern cars that I have driven
BMW
e46 330
e90 335i
e90 328xi
e90 328i
545i
750 LI
X3
X6

Lexus
GS400
GS350
IS 250
IS 300
SC 400
LS 460
RX 350

Mercedes
S 550
E 55
CLK 55
IS 350

Porsche
Cayenne

Land Rover
Range Rover Sport

Infiniti
Q45
FX50

Now with that out of the way, the handling and performance that comes out of the X6 is astonishing. I absolutely hate SUV's, however I love the X6. It rides and handles better than my previous 545i and I thought that was a masterpiece. I don't know how people on the forums say that this car is ugly. I have only had it a week and a half and the amount of compliments and stares I get is overwhelming. I think most people go wrong by judging cars without even driving them. The thing about BMW's is that you have yo drive them to truly understand their philosophy. Right now I am testing out the 750LI and while I do not like big cars the thing handles like it is a 3 series. The S550 doesn't feel that way, nor does the LS 460. I do not buy cars for status or exclusivity, I buy them for how they drive, and the smile they give me while doing so. Unfortunatley BMW has me hooked, but when I was searching for a new car I looked at the competition. I looked athe Porsche Cayenne, Range Rover Sport, and the Infiniti FX50. None of these vehicles came even close to what the X6 offers me. Some people say that I am biased towards BMW, but those same people said the exact same things about me concerning Lexus, when I had the GS4. I buy what I like no matter what badge is on the front.

Styling is subjective. What makes me INSANELY mad at the vehicle is that it's a sports activity coupe. It's a SUV with 4 doors and a 2+2 configuration and a sloped roofline. That in my opinion is not a coupe. It defies everything that makes sense about a vehicle.
An SUV is supposed to be able to haul or tow things. This can't do either.
A coupe is supposed to have two doors. This has 4.
I just don't see the point of the vehicle. I'm glad you enjoy your X6 but I hate it.

Seems like you are wrapped up in what things are called, or whether or not it fits into what this or that is. the only thing that u got right is that they call it a coupe. BMW never referenced the X6 as being a SUV, so why should you? Take away the names and other meaningless BS and drive the vehicle, until you do so talking about how bad it is, doesn't make sense.

Yea that's marketing BS though. They don't call their X5 and X3 SUVs either but SAVs. Who do you think they're kidding exactly? It's an SUV. I've seen tall sedans and tall wagons (Outback) and they're still not SUVs because they LOOK like wagons and sedans.
I can talk about how bad it is because it's my opinion. I refuse to drive a sporty anything that's high off the ground. I just don't see why anyone would buy one over an X5 (the engines will come) besides styling.
