AWD 2009 G37 coupe coming
You know, I have an interesting observation. Here in NYC, almost of all the 3GS I see on the road are either 300awd or 350awd. This is even moreso with 2IS, they are mostly 250AWD... Sometimes I see a 350, but I dont remember ever seeing a non-awd 250.
However, most of the G35's I see on the road are non AWD. Now that I'm thinking about it, I remember when I was at an Infiniti dealer a few years ago, pricing up a G35... I remember the salesman talking me out of AWD option.

That's probably because many G35 buyers are, in general, a more aggressive class of drivers than GS buyers, and want the more sporty and aggressive RWD handling and tail-out characteristics. RWD also means less weight for better acceleration and gas mileage. But that, IMO, is not reason not to offer AWD on the G35 coupe like the sedan for those who want it.
Reading this makes it even clearer that Lexus is REALLY lacking in the performance section of their models. Sure they have the IS-F, but realistically how many can afford a $60k+ car. They need to develop something sporty for their less prestige lineup.... at least add a stickshift to the IS350.... they must be blind or something.
