I was interested in the S5 as well, but the wait time is quite long right now. You'll likely wait, and you'll get an 09, not an 08. The S5 is more in the GT genre, while the M3 is slanted a bit more towards the performance side of the spectrum.

The S5 gets you AWD, a nice Bang and Olufsen sound system, etc. The glass panel roof can only tilt up, no sliding action. And, as you noticed, the nice LED DRL's

 

the car is nice, specially from the front. but i have to say somehow from the rear it's lacking some slick lines as a coupe

well that's me, you don't have to agree with me. comparing to the e92 (vs difference from e90), the a5/s5 is not enough imho

as nice as the S5 is, there are some things that shouldnt be. for instance the tilt only sunroof, the terrible sound system from B&O, and the not so hot performance for a 350hp V8.

 

The lines of the Audi S5 reminds me of the 68 Caddy Eldorado Classic!

 

wait for RS5 and say good bye to e92M

 

The styling of the S5 is amazing, but comparing it to the M3 is completely unfair. A5=328xi, S5=335xi, and RS5=M3.

Not to mention the advantage the RS5 will have in AWD, which means snow problems no more!
