Distracted drivers

Went out for a lunch run. Stopped, waiting for the light to change and the next moment...whump! I look into the rear view and only see the other car's windshield. Sh-t! I hope it wasn't that hard a hit. I get out expecting to see another pierced bumper but thankfully not. A bit closer look, the paint has spider web cracks in it.
He apologized and we did the usual info exchange. Fortunate nobody was injured but the Mrs. is sore from the impact.
Like I had been discussing privately, drivers not paying attention need a good

When I looked into his car, there were three cell phones, papers on the passenger seat...
The bumper repair estimate, $950. Which doesn't include the joys of adjusting my schedule to get this taken care of.
Driving is serious and the mentality of such casual attitudes toward operating a vehicle amazes me. I dunno why so many drivers here take to multi-tasking while driving?!
