Default Insurance on Lexus...

Just found this out on Autos.MSN.com:

(Lots of "Grade B", which means Lexus repairs are "somewhat lower-than-standard Premium" compared to other comparable vehicles.)

Code:
Model Style Liability Safety Damage

SC 430 CONV A 40% B

That "E" rating on the 2IS is very similar to what my insurance agent told me...the car is very expensive to repair compared to its competitor.

I can believe that. When I got insurance on my then new 04 Lexus, it cost me a about $400 more a year than for the same coverage on my NSX. Just browsing parts MSRPs throughout the years I noticed a lot of my Lexus parts prices for similar items also cost a lot more than my NSX. For example. The front rubber lip on my old SC400 was about $400. Similar part for the NSX was $100. Aluminum Control arms for the SC400 was also about $400 each. I think that was about the same as the NSX. Buy anyway, what I have found out is Lexus is an expensive car to repair if damaged or broken because the parts are so expensive.

Very true. I hit a curb avoiding 2 other cars--smashed my front end, but not the fenders or hood. Headlights, foglights, AFS and headlight washers were in tact, no structural damage at all, no airbag deployment, but needed new mechanical equip behind the front bumper--$9500.

The body shop warned me when the car was brought there that Lexus parts are very expensive.
