I DO like the IPL motor....The V6 3.7-liter engine, found under the hood was modified to provide 352 HP and 376 Nm of torque. Infiniti claims that power is delivered much more linear rear axle. List of mechanical changes include a IPL revised exhaust , a more rigid suspension 20% in front and 10% in back , recalibrated shock absorbers, a more intuitive direction and a non-slip differential. http://www.mibz.com/17978-infiniti-g...w-m-rival.html
Actually the IPL motor is simply the Nismo 370Z engine. Same upgrades and almost the same ratings.

g25 is more of an IS250 competitor than a 1 series competitor.

much cheaper than the 250, so i suppose some customers might buy this instead.

Default 2011 Infiniti G25 arrives Stateside, priced at $30,950

Nothing that I found in search about Arrival/price so..

2011 Infiniti G25 arrives Stateside, priced at $30,950

The Infiniti line-up is set to expand this September with the introduction of the G25, a new entry-level sedan packing all the amenities of its bigger brother, but with less power and a budget-minded price tag.

By all outward appearances, the G25 is your standard G sedan with a new badge, but under the hood lies the same 2.5-liter V6 that's been available in Japan since 2008. For an MSRP of $30,950, the G25 packs 218 horsepower and 187 pound-feet of torque channeled through a standard seven-speed automatic gearbox and – depending on the trim – can be had in either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.

The standard G25, G25 Journey or G25x (AWD) come equipped with leather and power-adjustable seats, automatic climate control, six-speaker audio, 17-inch aluminum wheels, HID Xenon headlamps and the normal array of electo-nannies. An optional RearView monitor and dual-zone temperature control, along with heated front seats and outside mirrors, are available on the Journey.

All told, a completely maxed out G25 will set you back about the same amount of coin as a bone-stock G37 sedan – not a bad deal considering everything that's included.

Not much cheaper than an IS250. This is going to cannibalize sales of the G37, I can already see it happen.

Yeah they can't really advertise the "most standard horsepower in it's class" anymore, or can they?

off the top of my head

IS250 - 204hp
C-Class - 228hp
328i - 230hp
TSX - 201hp
A4 - 211hp

Don't think the G25 is meant to be the 1-series competitor. That's a completely different car which will be revealed soon.

If that other car debuts then I think I will try to separate this thread as you are right the G25 is not a 1 series fighter.

especially since now IS250 shoppers can realize that if they buy the G25 they can actually have passengers with legs. The IS is made for little people.

The G is not a competitor for the 1 series. The 1 series with its engine line ups is pretty unique

Has it ever occurred to you that maybe, just maybe IS buyers DON'T CARE about backseat room and its not a priority for their purchase?

Has it ever occurred to you maybe, just maybe buyers prefer the smaller size of the IS which makes it more nimble (it is the same size of the 3/C) then a tweener like the G37?

Not sure when backseat room became the #1 reason people buy sport sedans.

sport sedan = sporty 4 door. Sporty 4 door= 4 doors= 4 passengers

ISX50 = 2 adults. Its more like a coupe with extra doors to lower insurance. Its the closest thing Lexus has to a coupe imho .LOL

Yeah, the G25 is no more a 1-Series competitor than a CTS is a 3-Series or 5-Series competitor...

Some do, Mike, and some don't. The IS, as you note, does seem to be most popular with single people and couples with no kids....for a reason. But the Munchkin-sized back seat seems to be one of the car's most common complaints....even here on CL. Of course, these are the kinds of things one should check out, on a test-drive, before signing on the dotted line.

One problem with the American market 1-series, and where the G25x has it beat, is the lack of an x/AWD model....I've mentioned that before in my criticism of it (otherwise, of course, the 1-series is a superb small sport sedan). On the other hand, the 1 series has a full-convertible...the G25 (apparantly) does not.

The G25 has enough of my interest, though, that I definitely want to take a look at it.....especially the x version.

I'll withhold judgement on this until I see and drive it, but I suspect that you are correct....especially if they give it a bargain price.....and a 31K base doesn't seem too bad with the equipment it has). I also think it will likely take some sales from the IS250 and IS250AWD.....currently one of the most popular vehicles in its class.

Excellent post and I agree!
As if having a usable backseat where 2 extra passengers can easily fit in this class is somehow a bad thing - how ludicrous.

Captain Save a Nissan. No one at all said having space is a bad thing? Care to twist any more words? I've stated over and over the G37 is the best value around.

People still beating up the IS over rear seat room after 5 years on the market is beating a dead horse.

However if we want to go there, its not as useless as the EX and FX with all the cargo room of a Jansport and they are UTILITY vehicles.
