I spoke to my aunt today after I sent her a suggestion list. She doesn't like the ENORMOUS styling of the new LX, but she does like the GX. She also likes the Range Rover (HSE and Sport), the BMW X5, and the Mercedes GL. She said she's going to go check them out this week to see what they drive like. Personally, I'm voting for the GL, but I also planted the seed for the Audi Q7 S-Line. Luckily, in Puerto Rico, the majority of all the high-line dealerships are all right next to each other, so she won't have to go too far to drive a plethora of different brands...

Yes, but I thought the Veracruz was a pretty classy vehicle.....IMO it beats the looks of some more expensive SUV's. You said she wanted something luxurious and classy. And if she can save her company some money while doing it, they may promote her and give her a better job for using her head.Originally Posted by geko29

LOL... I told her the same thing... keep the car you have, and take half the money and tell them to keep the rest. But, as it would be, the car allotment is written into her contract with the company... And considering her position, her salary and the company she works for (EVERYONE here knows their products), I don't think that they mind paying $1200 per month for a car. Oh, and as for your question, the monthly allotment is for the vehicle. She has a separate allotment for gas and maintenance which brings her total monthly allotment for a vehicle (technically) at $1,500. So, if she buys a new or not, she's still going to receive the money... and she might as well use it for a new car considering it's what it's for. Originally Posted by mmarshall

So, Marshall, based off the suggestions that she's interested in, which one would you recommend?

OK....for a car, hard to beat the Lexus LS460, unless she's in a bad-weather area....then look at the LX570 and see if she can get purchase or lease terms within the budget. Originally Posted by Stage3

For SUVs, the LX570, in that price range, is the best bet for reliablity....competing large, luxury SUV's like the Infiniti QX56, Range Rover, Mercedes GX, VW Touraeg, and Porsche Cayenne are unreliable in comparison.

It's still a major hassle if you have to make frequent unscheduled repairs, even if they give you a loaner. One of my co-workers has a Q7--when he brought it in for scheduled maintenance, his loaner was a PT Cruiser.Originally Posted by rominl
