Infiniti FX reviews
So Infiniti's fastest most powerful model is an overweight SUV. Makes no sense. Why anybody needs or really wants a clunky overweight SUV that does 0-60 in 5-5.2 seconds and has hp only for performance and not hauling is beyond me. I still don't underestand this silly SUV craze so many consumers and car makers have these days especially the obsession with them being as big and heavy as possible or having a ton of hp and being really fast. I would much rather see that 390hp engine put into a much lighter sports coupe, sports car, or sports sedan instead of some silly overweight SUV. This thing is going to get absolutely horrid real world gas mileage and will be about as useful as **** on a bull. I am hoping this SUV craze and auto companies putting their best resources into overweight SUVs while putting much less effort and resources into their cars cars ends soon.
Calm down. This powertrain will soon be in an M car.
0-60 in 5.0 seconds is no joke for a mid-sized SUV
, though it gets dinged pretty bad in the "driving engagement" department by autoblog's review.

"Where the FX gives up the ghost is its lack of any quantifiable tactile feedback. Steering inputs are masked with a thin layer of Novocain; shifts are somewhat sluggish and the paddle shifters aren't nearly as immediate as they need to be. While we had no complaints with the motivation provided by either engine, there was never that sense of speed and engagement (even without the foliage occupying the rear) that would make the FX anything more than a high-dollar people mover. The FX simply does the job expected of it and little more."
And then there's the ugly front to get over with...

He is right, it is just confusing to buyers.
1. Infiniti's fastest vehicle is this SUV now.
2. Infiniti has more SUVs than cars.
Yes, the M37/50 is coming surely but that is it.
Exactly. And who knows, maybe Infiniti has it planned for the G-Coupe/Sedan too.
With Infiniti being behind in competing with the IS-F, M3, & C63 AMG, I would assume it would be logical to predict a G50. Personally, I see it as "when", not "if". It's only a matter of time.

I still think Nissan will make some sort of Infiniti GT-R. It just makes sense. A coupe above the G37 would be awesome.
WHo knows maybe the Infiniti M coupe will return next generation.
I haven't head anything like that at all. I am hearing compact below the G35 is coming. Also the 7 speed and new 3.7 and a better interior will be availalble to those in Europe off the bat while their BIGGEST market, America, gets the old stuff and interiors that are not as good.
I don't understand why they would do that to America.
390hp 5.0 V-8= fast. A no brainer.

BTW here is one Infiniti press release concerning upgraded interiors for Europe.
http://www.worldcarfans.com/9080226....upe-for-europe
The interior utilises a traditional “Washi” theme to enhance Infiniti’s Japanese origins. Some of the switchgear and materials used in the interior will have been upgraded to cope with the more discerning European customer. Expect a long list of standard equipment and superb dealer service to complete this true luxury brand alternative.

Defending again I see. Their interiors are good, not top notch, never regarded by any review or publication as top notch. They are improved.
Since they are NOT top notch, why not just bring America, their best/biggest market, their best stuff? Why give America their okay stuff and Europe their best offerings. Makes no sense, IMO.
At that point, the reviews here would have even less to pick on and maybe the G35 would have beat its competition in comparos.
There is no bang sir, Infiniti estimates sales of 8,000-10,000 units a year.
What does Lexus have to do with this conversation?

So what if europe gets slightly better interiors. The interiors of current infiniti's in the US are top notch already. Europe is a hard market to break into so infiniti needs to go there with a bang. Its only until pretty recently that lexus became somewhat popular there due to their hybrids. It would make sense for infiniti to give the lineup something new and different

Carguy, no denying that the performance is staggering
I have a feeling that the new 7-speed auto is top-notch and helped acceleration significantly. It's still hard to believe that a 4,650 pound vehicle could be that fast, even with 390 hp.
My guess is that the G35 and G37 will shave .2 to .3 seconds off simply by upgrading from the 5 speed to the 7 speed.

The latest Infiniti cars are all outstanding. They went from having some of the worst interiors in the luxury-class to now arguably one of the best. I thought the EX interior was nice enough as it is but the FX interior really takes it to another level for Infiniti. My buddy has an '07 G35 and the interior build-quality is excellent. I don't hear any creaks or rattles when I go in his car. Since the FX is built to a higher standard than the G, I'm sure the FX build-quality will be even better.
As for the drivetrain, you really can't beat it for the price. Infiniti auto-transmissions have always been solid and bulletproof, this 7-speed will be awesome. 0-60 in 5 seconds flat makes this thing one of the fastest SUV's on this planet! Yeah, nobody needs it, but then again luxury isn't about needing, it's about wanting.
Now a G50 would be nice and totally possible. The FX and M share the same platform as the G and they both can hold a V8 under the hood. It wouldn't take much for Infiniti to stuff a V8 under there.
One thing I admire about Infiniti is how they actually tout their Japanese heritage. While some manufacturers seem to not even mention it, Infiniti likes to put it in everyones face.
