You liberals have a funny way of grabbing freedoms and money from people for whatever the latest feel good cause is.

I don't think people should be punished for making a choice some others don't like or agree with. I am sure the tree huggers saying "buy a small car, SUVs suck" leave their lights on in the house and don't recycle.

I am tired of SUVs being a scapegoat. That is only a SMALL part of the problem.

We should give maybe Tax credit to those that DO buy more economical vehicles and the government should BRING BACK hybrid tax credits.

For instance, i started a thread about gas being $3.66 a gallon. Nothing is stopping me from going down to Toyota and buying a Prius or a Yaris and starting at thread here about my new car.

My choice is to drive a car that gets around 18-20 MPG for now until I want something that gets better mileage or worse. lol

I agree that rather than extra taxing on gas guzzlers, give tax credits to those that buy the most fuel efficient vehicles (perhaps those that are EPA rated at at least 33 MPG's highway).

This way you are not penalizing the freedom of choice but awarding those that help the energy and enviromental problems.

EXCELLENT guys!

Reinforcing positive behavior is better than clobbering someone who doesn't make desired behavior. As they say, the beatings will continue until morale improves.

I don't think its right that SUVs are exempt from the gas guzzler tax. Afterall, most people aren't using them to haul stuff around the farm or to the jobsite day after day. Does an Escalade really need to hit 60 MPH in 6.5 seconds? I don't think it does and if you want an SUV car that goes that is that fast than you should have to pay the tax just like the person who is driving a car that sucks down that much gas.

Haha, you should be a psychologist. We could add some more reinforcement in there too! Not just getting pulled over for speed tickets, cops could pull you over and reward you for using your blinker. Could encourage safe driving.
