Besides the paddle shifter, a very positive review.

I wonder why Lexus doesn't offer stick shift for IS and IS-F. I've never been a fan of stick shift cars, but I know that many car enthusiasts love stick shifts and I'm pretty sure Lexus is losing potential IS buyers due to automatic shift.

Even though the automatic directly drives the rear wheels with no slip, shifts faster than any human can, and drives just like a SMG?

Most of the "potential" buyers that find that as a fault are just looking for reasons to hate the Lexus; nothing new, just old hat.

AMG gets away without stick shifts so Lexus isn't unique in this.

And personally I find BIG horsepower cars a chore and too jerky with a stick shift, but low horsepower cars can be fun with it.

That's still a pretty good review

Actually the automatics in both Lexus and MB shift nothing like an SMG or a DSG does.

Explain? I understand the differences between SMG, DSG and automatics but I don't quite understand if you mean that SMG and DSG shift faster or not. I've been trying to find out if it does or not (actual shift times) but I can't really find it.

Looks like Tiff turned the traction controll off instead of leaving in Sport Mode. Funny how he copied Jeremy's infamous "shut up! shut up!!" line...rather poorly though, as he, unlike Jeremy, still smiles as he says that. I too can't believe Lexus doesn't provide a button or something to disable the beeping. Perhaps someone can find a secret code or sequence?

Try the IS-F. That tranny is something serious.

Remember SMG is evolving, it actually pre-dates to the late 90s in the E36 M3 (very rare, most don't know it existed). It sucked something hard until recently.

AMGs autos are fine. The CLK Black Series auto seems to be the best they offer.

This is so true! Well, I haven't driven supercars like Lambo's, but on your average V8 and low red line, the manual is just annoying. However take a nice high revving S2K or NSX, and I can't picture them without manual.

As far as the review goes, when the driver was taking the car around the track, and it was sliding all over, its clear that he either:

1) Doesn't know how to drive
2) Did that on purpose for fun
3) Wanted to drift, but doesn't quite grasp the technique
