I think it's awesome that Toyota is doing this.
The Crown was in desperate need of a revival from around the 70 series, ever since the introduction of the ZERO Crown, it's a car I really want (it used to be Crown = old people's car in Japan...kinda like how Caddy was).
PS: This thread is not for debating whether if the Crown should be exported to the States or how fugly and cheap the interior looks. Go make your own thread if you want to discuss that.
And can't forget about the Crown Sedan and Crown Comfort that are just basic Crowns that look like out of the 80s
I guess every Crown thread will be about the design aspect and how it is positioned...so here's my two cents. I don't think it 'compete'. Majesta is the only Toyota that is allowed to have a V8, more luxury, I see this as a chauffeur's car than a drivers car around Tokyo. Not to mention it doesn't look like a Crown at all. The Athlete is Toyota's attempt to make the Crown more appealing to the younger market. The Royal is just a regular Crown. Comfort = taxi specific, not even the same Crown.
