According to the OP of thread in the nicoclub forum:
"I flipped it around so the intake can be directed over to the area where there is nothing. The battery and fusebox are on the passenger side. It may not stay this way. I won't know until I get the engine in it's final mounting spot and check for hood clearance.

Actually the 1UZ isn't heavy at all, its a modern engine even by todays standards, all aluminum, DOHC V8. It is also built rock solid, and there are plenty of mods. The early 1uz suffered from bad fuel management by the ECU, thats why most SC400/LS400 on the road are slower that they should be, but the Megasquirt ecu will take care of that problem.
