Yes, the Volt is simply a different hybrid but it's still a Hybrid. If it wasn't, then there wouldn't be a gas tank and JUST electric motors.
By definition, a hybrid is a system that uses two or more power sources to operate. The Volt utilizes a second system to go beyond the est. 40 miles.
Thus, we have ourselves a hybrid.
