The Caddy Escalade would be a better buy in the luxo barge SUV segment.

Car prices are getting out of control! I am looking for a new house now and I know of about 8 nice houses that cost around the price of this SUV. I guess if you got it flaunt it.

Well, for that we can blame ourselves and the people we elect. One reason vehicles are expensive today is all the equipment that both customer demand and government regulations dictate. Nobody wants to actually DO anything in their cars anymore...they want electronics to take over.

And, considering what you actually GET with today's cars, they really are not that expensive at all....we really haven't had that much inflation with many cars since the mid-1990's. The Toyota Corolla, for instance, costs about the same as in 1995-96. And GA housing prices, in general, are not known for being terribly high either. If yo want to see expensive real estate, go to Manhattan, SoCal, or my own Washington DC area.

I guess I don't really understand what all of the griping is about in this thread. Does anyone realize that the base MSRP on the '07 was $68,000 with destination? And that doesn't include any options.

The new truck has 110 more horsepower, a 6AT, and all kinds of new luxury and technology features and... that in itself isn't worth a $5k price hike?

Come on and quit the 8itching.

lol in that case, get to cali and you think the car is a bargain. for the price of this car you probably get like less than 1/10 of a decent house

Yeah I figure that's why there's so many nice cars in Cali. If someone can afford a home there then the car's not much more and if they can't afford a home, might as well blow it on a nice car!

lol, or the other way, since housing prices is so high here, some figure they can't get a house anyway and just spend it on cars (case in point, hehe) :d

Just watched the Land Cruiser test drive on Speed. The car is amazing when doing off road. Like its predecessor, it will never be a big seller because it lacks bling factor of the Escalade, and sport factor of Cayenne, X5, and Q7. The current statue of US economy and gas price is very unkind to full size truck base SUV. If Toyota make a Hybrid form it will be a different story.
