Default Lexus LX vs LS

For people who've had enough drive-time in each... How much louder (wind noise, road noise, tire noise) is the LX than the LS?

Its like comparing day and night. They are worlds apart, we have a 99 LS and a 99 LX. the LS feels like you are riding on clouds, no wind noise, little road noise, comfortable.
The LX is a beast, you hear a good bit of wind noise, still smooth, seats are comfortable but ride is much firmer than the LS. Over all they are such different cars that you would really have to drive it to see for yourself.

Thank you. I have very little drive-time in the LX. I really wonder what the new LX is going to be like. I guess I'll find out eventually...

I think the new LX will be significantly closer to the new LS in terms of ride quality and quietness than the old LX was to the old LS.

But I still expect that they'd be worlds apart.

A truck can really only be so aerodynamic - and with body on frame can really only control the ride so much before it has to become either harsh or 'mushy' to compensate for impacts.

Not to mention I'd guess with a larger vehicle like that, it probably has less sound insulating measures per interior/exterior surface area in order to reduce costs.

The GX is actually quieter than the current LX in my limited test drives.

Like Threxx says, I expect the new LX to be a LOT quieter. And SUVs don't have to be loud. My '06 Ford Explorer is VERY quiet. Ford has done LOTS of work recently on quietening all their platforms. GM too, I was in a new Chevy Avalanche and it's VERY quiet while at cruising (or any) speed.
