C63 does 12.3@116mph!!!
I think this pretty much seals the deal as to my next vehicle. Especially since it's widely "rumored" that getting 500hp from this motor is going to be childs play.
I don't know exactly where in CA you live, but I see little point in spending that kind of money (AMG's aren't cheap) just to sit in the L.A. region's notorious gridlock. It would be like getting a date with Pamela Anderson Lee......only to find out she's a nun.
Eh, didn't read all of the other posts, but come on. They are comparing the top-of-the-line Mercedes to an M3 and an Audi. Wow, can they pick anything at least in the same class? I would have compared it to an M6 which is at the same price point and a Z06 or the upcoming 'vette Zr1, both of which would smoke the Benz. I mean come on, Mercedes has really lost themselves recently.
First, let's stop with the unnecessary comments.
Second, the TT Supra has an I-6, not a V-6. Toyota has never produced a turbo V anything. While the 2JZ is legendary, it's only legendary when you consider it MUST run race gas to make big power. It can't do it with pump gas. The same will be true for the GTR. Sure, you'll be able to bump up the boost, but only if you're running 100 octane or better. The big MB will not hit this wall until you're well over 500 hp, and NA engines can be made to be far less fuel sensitive than boosted engines for a lot of reasons. So all the arguments go in MB's favor here.
Third, ULEV has nothing to do with tailpipe emissions. ULEV addresses hydrocarbon emissions through evaporation, not tailpipe, so saying it is detuned to meet ULEV is way off base.

Unless you go and rent time on a track or drag strip (which may void the warranty), what are you going to do with 500 HP.....or use it legally?

no... the current AMGs are like $85k and the m3 is like $60k? I'm not sure what this AMG will be but surely will break $90k. And when i hear "Audi", speed isn't exactly the first thought that crosses my mind.
Price wise the C63 AMG may be expensive, but it is in the same class and spirit as the other cars compared to it. It is definitely NOT the top of the line Mercedes. It is still a C class. It may be a factory tuned C class just like how the M3 is the factory tuned 3 series, and the RS4 is a factory tuned A4 series.
The current E63 AMG starts at $85K, but while the C63 will be expensive, I doubt it will be $90K.
You can't compare based on price alone. You have to compare the chassis.
The C63 will be priced similar to the RS4 (outgoing model), M3 and IS-F. They're all based upon entry luxury sport sedans with big power. The C63 will most likely be the most expensive of the bunch (in my opinion) until the new RS4 comes around (if it does).
Only problem with that is that there are very few japanese cars using turbo's these days. Supra's gone, 3000GT is gone, 300ZX is gone, RX7 is gone. All their replacements (if there is one) are all motor. With the exception of the GT-R what other fast japanese car is using turbo's???
I don't know where you're getting your numbers from, or if you're simply just making them up to try and prove your point, either way you're wrong.

True enough, they are estimates. However, estimates this close to release are generally fairly accurate. Surly the as-tested price isn't going to jump 30k to exceed 90k as stelth suggests.
I think the C63 will be in middle-upper 60k. If it somehow gets priced under the M3 and IS-F, there's absolutely no choice in cars. It's the top performer in almost all categories and it's probably the first AMG that doesn't just have a huge engine thrown in with know thought to driving dynamics.
M6 retail is under 100k (just a couple hundred) but with tax/destination/whatever other charges they can come up with. You're paying over 100k.
