Hope this is still a go since proton is owned by VW (parent company).

Always been a huge fan of the Lotus Esprit. Such a great looking car. The last few model year Esprit's took on a mini Lamborghini look to it IMO. This new model pictured above seems to carry on with that tradition. Cant wait to see what VW has in store for this model!!

Crazy to think that VW has majority control over Audi (R8), Bugatti, Lamborghini, Bentley, and now Lotus. Just so many supercars under one tree.

I wouldn't consider the Bentley Continental GT a super car, a top shelf car yes but not a super car.

Nice, front like a Lamborghini Diablo. While the back is like a tonned down Bugatti Veyron.

One thing can't wait for this to be on the road.

Default Spy Shots: 2009 Lotus Esprit

Friday 23 February 2007
Even more images of Lotus’ upcoming Esprit supercar have turned up, this time with a test-mule seen driving on public roads. The car is expected to be powered by a BMW-sourced V8 engine displacing either 4.4 or 4.8L, and deliver within the region of 370hp. Lotus fully denies that this prototype is in fact the new Esprit, but sources in the UK confirm that it is and that the car will be ready for sale in 2009.

The images reveal the new Lotus picks up design cues from Audi’s R8 coupe, with large air intakes in front of the rear-guards feeding air to the mid-mounted powerplant. The flagship Lotus is expected to cost around €110,000 and don’t be surprised if the new Esprit weighs in at around 1200kg.

Seems like all the good super cars will be out by 2008-2009.

I think FT-HS is targeting the Espirit level of performance
putting a V8 into an MR-2 would prob ruin the weight balance and its handling performance
