I would. I average about 17 mpg with my IS300. Granted that is virtually all city, but still. For a 6 cylinder car with as little power as it has, I consider it dismal. I get the same or slightly better mileage with our SC430.

Is your Miata a 5-or 6-speed ? I don't remember. (I'm pretty sure it's not an automatic )

6-speeds, of course, do better on the highway.......the Miata 5-speed's rather short gearing and final-drive ratio make the engine spin up pretty good (and drone) when you are on the Interstate, which, of course, can eat gas.

My brothers IS300 only gets about 24 on the highway. Pretty awful for a 5 speed auto 3.0L.

6 speed stick.

On the Miata, the 6 speed doesn't really do better than the 5 speed as far as I know - I don't know the exact final gear ratio differences, but some have mentioned they wished the 6th gear was taller. My guess is the 6 speed isn't that tall so there's still reasonable pick-up / passing torque.

The available 6 speed auto cruises at lower rpms (6th gear) because of course it can automatically and quickly downshift to give better response.

Next Lexus very likely will be a hybrid. V-8 I love but 16-18 MPG and maybe 23 on the Highway has gotten old.

I don't really consider my IS350 as a gas guzzler compared to it's competition.

But when I compare it to 4-cylinder cars, and even other motorcycles, I do cringe when I spend about $50 a week (yeah, that's $2600 a year) on gas. I think it's a gas guzzler, but when compared to a I4 Camry, I'm only spending about $50 a month extra for my IS.

Hmm..

28 MPG is not bad for 306 hp V6. I'm happy. I am of the notion that if you can afford a 40k car .. then gas shouldn't hurt ya that bad. I fill my car up every week.

I can get that 28 if I drive 60MPH in my 99 LS400.

Of course I DONT do that, so I get around 26 on the highway and about 19 in town...on the average.

Not too bad for a V8, so no I dont consider it gas-guzzling
