The ES has been a hit for LExus since the 2ES in 1992 and was the best selling model until the RX came. The ES is the best selling entry level luxury SEDAN. Not sure why it was left out.

best selling entry level luxury sedan.
The 3 series sedan, the Acura TL and the Lexus ES have all taken that title in the past few years I think.

I'm pretty sure that the 3 series sedan has outsold the TL and ES in each of the past 4 or 5 years (including so far this year). Let me know if I'm mistaken.

The GS450h is NOT a "poor seller" because it is production limited. Lexus is selling every single GS hybrid they make. The demand for the GS hybrid exceeds production.

THe ES was 1st last year. I believe the TL was then 1st the previous 2 or 3 years, and before the TL, the ES.

I don't think the 3 sedan has been tops recently, but don't get me wrong, its a GREAT seller.

Much worse than analysts expected and nobody else did anything
spectacular, so my first instinct is to say that Accord sales came
largely at the expense of Ford cars...
Ford definitely took a hit but specifically in the mid-size segment, the Fusion was up 9.6% compared to last September. http://media.ford.com/article_displa...ticle_id=26906

I think when the next gen TL comes out, if it's still priced right and offers desireable features standard, it will be at 6,000+ per month too.

Anyone know when the new TL is coming out? IMO the current gen still looks good near the end of it's cycle.

And for the millionth time, what the hell is selling the aging E class? It's gotta be the worst car out of the bunch, yet it sells like crazy.

Which comparison tests put the GS over the E? I think most of them have the E rated higher than the GS (even consumer reports I think!)

Um, Consumer Reports gives the GS a "recommend" but not the E-Class due to reliability problems.

And again, may I point out that the ES is a single model whereas the 3-series has variants galore and the G has a coupe and sedan.

I think Lexus should expand the IS range...it is ripe with potential there.

True, but the ES has virtually no competitors in its segment.
