Im pretty sure the reason the manual is more expensive is because of smaller amounts that are made and sold, the auto trans is constantly being built and rolled off a line and stuck in a car, the manual trans is small production numbers, it just cost more to build less of them

As others mentioned, it is because the 6-Speed manual comes with the sports package inclusive. No longer can you get a G35S for the Sedan. What you have to do is buy a Journey Package and add the Sports package to it. The little Red "S" badge will no longer be available, at least on the Sedan.

As for the IS350, as pointed out, it's not a coupe so not really comparable.
What else comes close to this coupe for the money though?

I don't know if this gen coupe will suceed like the first. The 1st G35c was a real looker and took the industry by storm. Seriously...it OUTSOLD the 3 series coupe. I don't know if this gen provides enough of an improvement for people to switch.
With that said, people wouldn't cross shop the IS350...it won't handle NEARLY as well as this coupe and its a sedan. From all reviews so far, this car can blast away in the twisties...very different from what most Lexus buyers are looking for IMO.

well, nissan listened to everyone who wanted a refined comfortable (read: more numb) ride. i would have thought that people here could have appreciated the new G, if not the people at g35driver.
cant be mad at nissan though- they're driving their enthusiasts away from the G and toward the Z and GT-R, which makes sense as those cars will better cater to enthusiasts anyway, and they have less competition on those fronts.

As I see it, the 08 Z will offer Porche Carrera performance and the GT-R, Porche 911 Turbo levels... both at prices mere mortals can afford.

Not sure where this "same price" thing is coming from. 335i Coupe is $6000 more than the G37, base price v. base price, and about $8000-9000 more similarly equipped.
IS350 is a sedan, so it's a bit of a different market. Coupes are always more expensive than the sedan counterpart. 335i Coupe is $2000 more than the 335i Sedan, with the exact same features and engine.
You can bet that if a IS350 Coupe ever does come out, it'll be a couple thousand more expensive than the sedan.

The 335i coupe STARTS at 40,800 so it's going to be way higher with similar equipment to the G37 coupe. I priced the 335i coupe it at 42775 on BMW's site with just metallic paint and leather interior! That's no sports package, no other options.

When you compare coupe for coupe, sedan for sedan, im not sure how 1SICKLEX believes $35,000 for the base G37 Coupe is much as a base 335i coupe; there's a 5,000 dollar difference. And comparing base sedan for base sedan, the 07 G35 is about $7,000 cheaper than the 335i sedan.
When you compare fully loaded G's & 335i's, the gap between pricing becomes even bigger than that of the base prices.
Lexus doesn't have a coupe, so I can't make the comparison. But the 2007 G35 Sedan is still about $3,000 dollars cheaper than the IS350
Even so, I think I would still pay the few extra grand for the 335i coupe. I love the G37, but the 335i is just so modable for a cheap price that yields tons of more power via flashing the 335i's ECU. It't not as sporty looking as the G-series, but the 335i Coupe still looks very classy & performs great

You mean small, right? No, it's similar. I lived with a G coupe for 2 years; the trunk size was a problem a few times, but less than you would think. Us 335i owners are spoiled by an obscenely large coupe trunk.
