NSX launch pushed back, again

1SICKLEX:What is this, 7 years of toying with us? Just stop talking about it Honda, how about just stop talking in general with these whack press releases and whack concepts. Ridiculous.
This time I'm with Mike. Acura keeps doing this because we jump at the bait every time there's a press release or concept photo shown. If we just stop jumping at these non-events like lemmings and wait for the REAL car, the Acura press people will learn their lesson. But their press people keep feeding us like hungry sharks around meat.

I really don't think Acura is just baiting us for attention, they're serious enough to actually build a concept car & that takes time & money, just that it seems they cannot decide exactly what to do with the new car, maybe they're still debating internally among themselves.
You and I have been discussing cars long enough to pretty much know how the other one is going to react...especially with the new NSX.
Road and Track, in their latest edition, just posted a picture and explanation which they are "sure" is the next NSX....with a V10. I'm hesitant to try and post it...for two reasons. First, my picture-posting skills are very poor compared to yours, and Second, we've already seen one million different "new" versions of NSX..this would be the million-and-first.

That is because the NSX is dead. The HSC was the last time Honda/Acura called it a replacement NSX. Once they killed the HSC, they killed the NSX. The concept car after that was called the NSX Successor. Every word out of Honda/Acura's mouth stated that the AASCC was not an NSX, but a new Acura Concept Car that would pick up where the NSX left. There will be no new NSX. There will never be a car called the NSX again. Only the media keeps calling any new sports car from Honda the new NSX.
I'm a die hard NSX enthusiasts and even I admit the NSX is dead and no other car will ever bare the name NSX (New Sports Car Experimental) ever again. A front engine V10 that is targeted at the Astin Martin is not an NSX. It is a GT Car. Logic would tell us if Honda/Acura were planning on creating a second generation NSX is would be mid engine and targeting the Ferrari F430 and Gallardo.
If you don't hear the name Shigeru Uehara involved in the developement of these concept cars than you can all but bet the farm it isn't a second gen NSX.

What little I know about it right now suggests that it will have a less-peaky engine with a broader torque curve. The average American driver doesnt want to take his engine to motorcycle-RPM levels to get any spunk....something that previous S2000's, especially the first-generation engines, with their 9000 RPM redlines, 8600 RPM HP peak, and 7600 RPM torque peaks, were known for. I would also not be surprised, though I cannot confirm it, if the next-gen car had an optional folding metal roof, ala Miata.
Believe it or not. the HSC concept pictured here has the most NSX DNA out of any concept that came out. Why? Because it was based on the NSX chassis and really just a heavily modified NSX. Plus, the Enzo had a Japanese designer so........
Every two years or so Takeo Fukui gets a Testosterone shot to make up for the lack of the normal male organs that produce that hormone. At such a time of a spike in the said hormonal level in his blood, he starts talking "junk" and starts throwing around speculative ideas of a V10, carbon body, Ferrari-trashing Honda that is about to explode on the scene.
In due time the aforementioned levels of the said hormone start to ebb lower until they disappear and just about that time the bean counters pay him a visit and tell him to shut the ***k up
and shortly thereafter Honda lets it slip that any plans for a replacement for the NSX have yet to be finalized and are under future consideration .....etc. etc.
Well guess what folks, the Fukui hormones are back down to the neutered state and the bean counters just done paid him the visit.

LOL!!!
Anyway, the NSX was by far the best car I've ever owned. I could never afford a brand new one so mine was bought used, but nothing out today can fill its shoes for me. I sold mine to my brother and I keep missing it every day, so I'm desperately trying to buy another one
Obviously, if I could afford a Ferrari I probably would get a F430, or a Gallardo, but that is in a much higher income bracket. There still is not much that can match the NSX for under $100K when it comes to the total package. The closest thing out today would be the Porsche Cayman. About the same HP, same price, same performance as the NSX, and most important same mid engine layout.
Don't get me wrong though, the original NSX design is also beautiful. I love it, i bought an '92 red NSX(w/ 33k miles on it) from out-of-state, was getting suppose to be shipped from Oregon to Indianapolis, IN. The freakin deer was in the way and the truck hit it, went off the road, and ran into a ditch at high speed. My NSX got crushed about half way. This happened at night somewhere in Montana. It sucks!!!!! I was pissed as hell.
