Is the 6-speed auto in the Camry V6/ES350 still suffering from problems?

Just honest answers about this specific issues please, not a general Toyota reliability debate.

Thank you.

The shift flares generally occur in cold weather, and now that it's warmer it's hard to say.

Overall though, it looks like they have the problem under control.

A look at the ES350 forum indicates otherwise. So far, Lexus has come up with a valve body TSIB (didn't work), a transmission replacement TSIB (didn't work) and a transmission reflash TSIB (didn't work). Just like the current transmission problems, the transmission replacements seem to be a roll of the dice as to whether you'd get a good one or bad one. It's very disappointing that the latest fix (reflash) is also not correcting the problem, though not enough posters have had this done to write it off entirely.

My ES350 doesn't have the tranny flare and I've generally had no problems with the car. An initial voice recognition issue was fixed, and the occassional rattle is either not enough to bother with or was addressed by the dealer. The car is by no means perfect, but it is a great value and I love mine.

Its pretty much nipped in the bud. The cars continue to win reliability awards and things are improving. It is sad the owners that do have this problem and I sympothize with them.

so the ES350 doesn't use the same auto as the IS350? I wonder why not? Would have saved cost right to put the same tranny in all the models? The IS250 uses the same auto as the IS350 and it even has less power than the ES.

From my understanding, the issues have been mostly solved. Those still suffering with issues mostly have early built Camrys or ES350s. Toyota switched suppliers several times for the transmission, and two or three suppliers were booted out by Toyota because they did not manufacture the trannies to exact Toyota spec.

I have not heard of any of these issues popping up in Camrys or ES350s built in the last few months.

I hope that was a joke . Aisin is very close to Toyota and has supplied or helped develop many transmissions for Toyota over the years. To say "Aisin sucks" means that you're saying a large number of Toyota vehicles have bad transmissions.

Aisin was not the problem with the 6 speed issues in the Camry/ES350. As mentioned in many other threads, it was several American suppliers.

I refuse to purchase any FWD Toyota/Lexus after I sell my RX. You would've thought they'd fix the problem after the RX330's came out with their infamous shifting problems... here we are 4 years later with something worse on the ES...
