Another win for this year's 19 category winners. What press release says are somewhat surprizing:
Odyssey, a 5 yr. winner knocked out by Hyundai (both Entourage &Sedona tied).
Yaris/Fit beat out by Rabbit because of emotional impact of VW's DNA
(VW placed highest on average scores)
BMW top brand for 8 of 9 yrs. testing.
Hyundai tops with 5 category winners and Toyota had none. Comments about the perceived quality involves near and distant future with style and power trains.

I like this study because the playing field for Toyota, Honda, Infinti, Ford and Hyundai is level in term of number of defects in first 90 days. This study goes beyond that measuring 27,000 purchasers last Sept./Oct./Nov. of new cars ('07) on 166 attributes including the buying experience, brand loyalty, driving, and overall perception of quality. The final score is out of 1000 and by memory RX350 got 905 (about same as previous year.). Very few scores were higher than that number. The Corvette convertible was highest.
The authors make a point of saying that unlike last year, newer models had less influence when they obviously had opportunity to increase emotional appeal and improved content.
