Just wondering where you got those numbers from? I did a cursory read of the article and although they do mention the standard, V-spec, and evo GT-Rs, the 450 horsepower, and the prices, I must have missed the evo numbers on the hp.
Personally, I would have to agree with others on here and reserve judgment until seen and driven it in person, especially if they were to compare it to the 997 GT3. I have driven the R34 GT-R V-spec and it could not handle like the 996 turbo or the 996 GT3.

And the dealership thing:
I walked in with a friend once just to check out some cars because I was graduating from high school and may have wanted to get something new and sporty. We checked out the 350Z. We walk into the dealership, no one approaches us and doesn't even ask us if we need help looking for something. When I find someone, I ask him if we can take a look at the 350Z. He's doesn't want to at first and is reluctant to give us the keys. He unlocks the car for us and watches us as we check out the car. Very uncomfortable feeling. I sit inside the car, look around the dash. And like 5 seconds of me being in the car he says "DON'T TAKE THE HAND BRAKE OFF." Okay, I may be young at the time, understandable, but I'm not a moron and absolutely never yell at your customers. I didn't even bother asking to look at any of the other cars on the lot. I left, right after that.
Even if the person who comes to look at the car is young doesn't mean I couldn't be a young looking person or a kid who's parents are rich. In fact I don't look that much older than I did than and I'm looking to buy a car pretty soon. Good job, Nissan, you will never see my face on your lots again.

I'm with you. $53k sticker (prob. ~$50k after negotiation) for a fully loaded C6 coupe? Probably more than $10k cheaper than the Nissan after you add a few options to it. And you get a targa. $57k'd probably get you a fully loaded convertible.

You can spend $50k on a C6 and mod it and all, but I don't know, there's so much technology in the GT-R, and it's a lineage proven to outperform everything for the past 3 generations. The C6 is nice, but people who can afford Porsches and GT-R will still get those.

C6 for 50K?? if you like Corvette, that's good to hear, but a C6 is never my car until they fix the interior...
I am not trying to insult some of the members here, and I like Corvette too, but to ME, 2X Corvette < GTR....

There's a problem with comparing numbers. The GT2 is rear engine, all of the engine weight sits on the rear wheels. GT-R is front engine but AWD with bias to rear wheels depending on conditions. Until I see a full out comparo on the track, I won't really say anything but what I see with my eyes. And thus far... not pretty.

Heads, cam, and long tube headers would likely do the trick. Plus, you'd end up with a better looking car IMO. But, aside from the wing on the GT-R I kinda' like it's styling. It'll be interesting to see who gravitates towards it when it becomes available and if it has that insane mark-up factor the Z06 had for a while.
