sorry to disappoint you but those carbon fibre wheels are incredibly hard to produce so i doubt they will ever make it to the mass production stage
which is sad cause i love those wheels too
hopefully they can end up making metal alloy version of the wheel design
this is perfect timing, a perfect car to buy after i get out of university

IMO, this thing needs serious amounts of plastic surgery before being produced. Only thing that actually looks decent are the wheels. Powertrain sounds great though. Cant wait to see what they got in store.

sweeet. $30k.. that's EVO money isn't it? which probably means mid $40k for us Canadians.. maybe even $50k which is quite a bit. I was hoping for a Cdn$30k sports car lol.

They did catch my eye at the NY Auto Show. Toyota is not playing. I look forward to the production version and the tweaks that will come with it. But I really should be saving my money for the LF-A!!

Japan Report: Toyota’s Supra Taking Shape As A Hybrid Nissan Z-Fighter?

Delicious rumors of a new Toyota Supra continue to make the rounds in Tokyo. Word on the street is that Toyota is planning two versions, using the recent FT-HS North American International Auto Show concept as a template.
The main version will receive an improved version of the 3.5-liter V-6 from the IS350, producing 330 brake horsepower, and will be aimed fair and square at the next Nissan 350Z.
However, if the grapevine is correct, Toyota will also do a V-6 hybrid using a ramped-up version of the GS450h powertrain on a shortened rear-drive platform. This one would pack 400 bhp.
Few would doubt that the hybrid variant is really the car Toyota wants to build, because it’ll be something new, fast, clean and green in the sports coupe segment, and a new image builder. But the 3.5-liter, which will be at once lighter, more affordable, and less complex than the techno-heavy hybrid will be the main commercial player.
Toyota’s CALTY studio in Los Angeles is handing design work, and if all goes to plan, the new Z-sized sports coupe from Toyota City will be on the market by late 2008.
We stress the above is all unconfirmed, as Toyota’s plans for this ‘new Supra’ seem to shift with the wind. The prospect of going head-to-head with the next 350Z must also be spooking a few inside Toyota, as the current Zed is already one of the great sportscar rides available.
Thus, not for the first time, Toyota has quite a mountain to climb.

Sounds promising, but already, the hype is fading quickly.
The 350Z is no longer the main target. The new Supra needs to fight the G37 coupe and 335Ci in terms of power and performance. The hybrid version will be a monster of it's own. Although it does have close to the same hp as the M3 or RS4, it won't be under the same category.

toyota is pretty good at marketing
yeah i agree that the main target should be the G37 and 335ci but i guess in the price point of this FT-HS, 350Z is a bang on target
the thing is i want to see 2+2, not 2 seater from toyota
and i was hoping that they would use synergy 3 instead of synergy 2 in the GS450H
this baby needs Li-Ion + capacitors

If it's a hybrid as big as the white elephant in that picture it will be well over 4000lbs probably.
