What a pain. I hope this gets resolved for you soon and you can have a beer and laugh about it. I know it sucks now.

I was insured by Mercury for about 6 days. I went to the broker's office and they took a picture of my car. It had 19" HRE 448Rs on it at the time and they asked me to sign a waiver of coverage on the wheels or buy an addendum to the policy to cover them. No other insurance company ever asked me for this. I agreed to waive coverage on the wheels and paid the fools. A week later, I get my policy statement and bill and the policy is $200 more for six months than they quoted me and the wheels were not the reason for it. I canceled and switched to Geico, before the cavemen. Now, I have MetLife and they are great.

 

In a past life I had a Mercury auto policy, that lasted one year. In that time, I made calls or visited the local office for questions. Discovering that almost every visit or call I was talking with someone new, tipped me off.
