This Hyundai, the Azera and the Equus ARE luxury. But you may be right about Hyundai shooting themselves in the foot because when you buy a luxury car, it's not just the purchase experience you want to be happy with. It extends beyond that. Like I've mentioned before.. Do you think Lexus LS460 owners want to be in the same showroom as 17 year old kids jumping around like monkeys calling each other "Biznatches"? It's not only the showroom. What happens when you need service? Do you think this high-brow six figure executive wants to sit next to some pimply 16 year old jerkoff with his pants around his ankles while he's waiting?

These are same people who bought a TL/ES instead of an Accord/Camry just bc of the nameplate.

Hyundai may end up shooting themselves in the foot by releasing these premium vehicles under the same badge as their lower end models. They may want to look @ Acura who is having a hard time getting people to not cross shop w/ their Honda products.

By weekend fun car I mean Corvette, NSX, S2000. Something along that lines

I'm interested in reading up on this. Do you have any references?

Who cares, as long as the work is done properly and the price is reasonable? Those noisy kids, in all likelihood, aren't going to affect the quality of the work done in the service bay at all. I think you are worrying about "image" too much.

Big? You should see some the cars I grew up with. The average length of a Cadillac, Lincoln, or Imperial in those days was 225-229 inches, with wheelbases of 126-129 inches.

There is a big general gender gap between buyers of the IS250/350 and the LS460L. Do you think the buyer of a $85K LS460L wants to be in the same showroom as the teenager buying the IS250 putting 20" chrome rims on his car and blasting JayZ out of his ML system? Okay, I'm just making a joke to make a point, but it is the same basic thing you are saying.

Default R S X

Acura 1st cut production & then killed the RSX altogether for this reason.

I am sure that if Lexus decided to build a <$30,000 BMW 1-Series fighter, there would be many here claiming that it would ruin the brand. Heck, when there were rumors of a Lexus RAV4, people were already complaining. Honestly, now that I think about it, I have even heard similar rumblings over the IS250 ...

It's just one thing that WILL keep people from buying Hyundai luxury vehicles. Personally, I think Hyundai will sell enough of these new luxury cars to put a small dent everybody's wallet (manufacturers).

I'm just looking at things from both perspectives.. On one hand, the vehicles will be good enough to attract all kinds of buyers. On the other hand, it won't attract those bothered by the situation I mentioned..

When my Wife was looking for a new car, we considered the Kia Amanti. We took it for a test drive. If you ever drove one - or drove in one, you'd be impressed. Well, the dealership was run by children. We ran out and never went back. There are just some situations where mature, responsible adults should be running the show...

Yeah, but by today's standards.. I used to drive a 1995 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham. That car was huge.
