354hp E400 diesel with goodness knows how much torque. Hope they can get into Cali even if I have to pay MB prices to refill the urea.

That's just a facelift, this will be a totally redesigned new generation E for 2009/2010

+1. Theres a select few cars out right now that look so good in their current form that a redesign really isn't needed yet. This E-class is one of them IMO.

But from a reliability standpoint they probably want to start fresh as soon as possible. Surprisingly I haven't read or heard about problems with the new S-class.
