Which would you buy?
My friend is looking for a summer car and has pretty much made up his mind on either a used '04+ S2000 OR a BMW M Roadster (Not Z4 M Coupe/Roadster). He's leaning toward the Bimmer as he's owned BMWs previously but almost bought an S2000 back in '03. So, I just thought I'd get see what CL people have to say about this. I know from viewing other threads, in particular "3 Best cars you've owned" thread and have seen many fond of S2000s, BUT would you take it over an M Roadster?

The only thing an M roadster has over the S2000 is the traditional superb BMW steering.....and even some of that, of course, is lost due to the inevitable convertible body flex.
Otherwise, it's the S2000 all the way. But Och is correct......with either one, make sure you can fit into these cars. They are NOT Suburbans.

The Z3 roadster was not originally designed for the M engine. Eventhough it was beefed up somewhat for the M motor, the chasis was still not up for the task. Eventhough it only weights a few hundred lbs than the S, it does not feels as nimble on its feet as the S. I love the high reving of the I4 and ofcourse I love the torque of the M. It's a tough choice but your friend can't go wrong either way. I own an S2000 btw.
