How about the price? I don't think the fully loaded pullman would be cheaper than the Maybach 62. Also, it is safer than 62. The safest version of pullman would be much more expensive than 62 too...

The "pullman" Mercedes sedans never went away. Long wheelbase Mercedes sedans, in a variety of wheelbase lengths, have been available in both mid-size and "S-class" sedans every year since the 1960's. I've traveled in Europe quite a bit and toured Mercedes plants and have seen ultra long wheel base Mercedes sedans lots of times. They are just as common in Europe and the Middle East as Cadillac and Lincoln limos are in the U.S. I saw newlyweds in Athens recently leaving the church in a long wheel base midsize Mercedes sedan.
