Do Lexus loaner cars have GPS tracking systems in them?
My sc400 is in the dealer for service, and I got a RX330 for a loaner.
I need to travel outside the state, but when i called the service department to see if it's okay, they told me i need to stay within the state boundary.
Do they have a GPS tracking system on their loaners to see where their loaners are?

Lexus has given me an ES 350 for serving my 1996 ES 300 with over 275K miles. Driving the ES 350 is really nice but I do notice a lot of wind noise coming from the driver's and passenger's window. One of these days I'll have to upgrade my 1996 ES 300...

I don't think they have any GPS tracking sysstem in the car to monitor for that. If you need to go out of state, their seems to be 2 possible solutions. One is to just don't tell them and go on as planned. The other more ethical way would be to tell the dealership your situation, return the loaner car, and ask them to rent you a rental loaner that doesn't have any restrictions on it. Chances are they will just waiver the rule and let you go out of state.

As for GPS tracking the OP raised a good question. I could see a reason for them doing it. Though they most likely don't.

Read this:
Applies to California, also this is for a "rental", there could be a whole new set of rules for a "free" loan car.
Electronic Surveillance in Rental Cars – Civil Code section 1936. This law prohibits vehicle rental companies from using, accessing, or obtaining information relating to a renter’s use of a rental vehicle obtained using onboard electronic surveillance technology, except in limited circumstances. It requires rental companies to obtain a renter’s consent before using or disclosing information about the renter’s use of the vehicle.
