Cool. Just sent you a PM.

Toyota entered Mexico opened the dealer doors in early 2002 in Mexico, and since then I have always heard rumors from dealers and people in Toyota corporate here, however, they are hamstrung by some importation laws that limit the amount of Japanese vehicles that can be brought in. Though vehicles that are made within NAFTA apparently are exempt. I also think some marketing strategy is at play, given that Acura has attempted to come in force (do not believe they have been successful at it yet) and Infiniti was disaster.

If I were going to start up Lexus here right now in 2007, I would bring in the IS, ES and RX (the Canadian built ones and also because they don't have the Highlander here to bridge the gap on the Toyota side). Toyota applied a similar successfully strategy, bringing in the Corolla and Camry when they stared off. I can imagine the GS, LS and SC series might be a tougher sell and the LX is already mirrored by the Landcruiser.

Moreover, I would sell for now the vehicles at Toyota dealers, similar to what they do in other parts of Latin America, let the brand take off and then start up Lexus dealers. Acura has 2 dealers in Mexico City and unfortunately for them it has been a much tougher sell than expected.

Why do you post here? We know those are the unexciting Lexus cars captain obvious.
Clearly, you proved my point, you are a hater.

Yet another good thread closed by the anti-and-pro Lexus contingent petty arguments, insults and bickering.

Keep it up and we might as well shut down the entire damn forum.
