MONTREAL — Luc Chartrand will proudly display his dream machine at the forthcoming Montreal auto show in January. Called the Plethore, it has already been nicknamed the "Quebec Bomb."
Chartrand has been working with various composite materials for more than 20 years and had previously modified some Lamborghini cars before he set out to build his own supercar.
The Plethore is being constructed by Luc's company, HHT Technologies. The ultra-sleek coupe will be powered by a GM-sourced 8.2-liter V8 engine capable of up to 1,000 horsepower, with torque of 565 pound-feet.
The Plethore weighs just 2,750 pounds; it is 44 inches tall and 178 inches long. Maximum speed is expected to be over 205 mph.
Similarly to the McLaren F1, it has a three-seat interior with a central driver seat and room for "as many as three people up to 6-feet-6-inches in height each," according to Canadian auto Web site auto123.com, which covered the gestation period of the car.
Plethore will retail for $216,000 (U.S.), which includes air suspension, leather upholstery and a high-end stereo system.
What this means to you: For the first time in 30 years, the Montreal auto show will be truly exciting.
