Hot Laps in Lapland: Mercedes Driving School Heads to Sweden
Now that's what we call Lapland. Mercedes-Benz's AMG Winter Sporting event takes CLK63, SLK55 and C55 AMG models up to the Arctic Circle for participants to drive under wintry conditions.
Dashing through the snow: AMG models from Mercedes-Benz take part in the AMG Winter Sporting event.

ARJEPLOG, Sweden — If you want to take on the frozen North in the hottest cars from Mercedes-Benz AMG, better book your spot for the January 2008 session.
The German automaker reports that the popular event, which includes a "snowmobile safari," cocktails in an igloo and rides in the AMG Ice Taxi, is fully booked for 2007.
Reservations for 2008 will be booked starting in January at the AMG Web site.
The event takes drivers close to the Arctic Circle in an area that Mercedes-Benz says is a "global test center for the automotive industry." Driving exercises take place over four days on a frozen lake. The drivers practice several techniques, including drifting, a skill for optimum vehicle control on slippery surfaces. AMG specialists record the drivers' input, "making it possible to log not only sector and lap times, but also longitudinal and lateral acceleration," the automaker said.
Top performers in the session are honored at an evening event that features culinary treats from Northern Sweden served around an open fire in a traditional Lappish wooden teepee.
What this means to you: Your Arctic training will have to wait until next year, unless Mercedes gets wise and adds more classes.
