I'm watching NCIS and there's a commercial f/ the GS w a red bow on it. And two gents are looking at the GS and saying to each other someone is getting a nice gift etc ... it wasnt blatant but at the end you knew what was up. I asked my wife and she agreed that I wasnt misunderstanding.

That's brave on Lexus' part to actually make a commercial catered towards that DINK (Dual Income No Kids) consumer group. Could be a good market

I saw that ad as well and had the exact same conversation with my wife.... we weren't really paying attention at the beginning so didn't see the setup for the ad.

I actually missed the whole ad except for the end when one of the guys said that he already cleaned out the garage. I guess I'll have to wait until I see the whole thing. Apparently there is another commercial with two females...hmmmm

As far as I know these commercials were not made in Massachusetts

There arent any gay people in MA? lol Anyway, wasnt there a thread or two before about Lexus and Scion targeting the gay community? If that is indeed what they are doing then this commercial should not come as a suprise. Well not too much of one.

On the other hand, I will say this though, my girlfriend was watching Desparate Housewives or something the other night which was on tivo and she saw the commercial. She said, "aw, thats cute, two gay guys in a Lexus...Kind of reminds me of _______ (someone she works with)." So the ad may not be showing two gay guys, but, if it isnt, it certainly is ambiguous enough to make a lot of people think otherwise...

Earlier this year, Lexus announced that they were going to be more gay friendly & in June, they placed their first ad in a gay magazine:

There was an ad in the Daily News last week which alluded to that. It was from our 3 local NYC Lexus Dealers. (Bay Ridge, Manhattan and Bayside). They openly referenced/welcomed the gay community. It was kinda cool seeing it as, I've never seen a auto manufacturer directly do so. I will try to dig it up and scan it. They run the ad several times a week here in NY.

I believe foofighter is correct and the GS ad is somewhat targeted.

The ad with the RX looks more like there is a question regarding who is the recipient of the car as marshmallo mentioned.

The MA comment seems to be about our marriage laws.
