My love for cars started out when I was probably about 2 (year 1987)...my dad's primary love for cars came from the money he got from selling them. He wasn't particularly a huge "hands-on" car nut, but did get to go to test tracks and drive new models when they came out (which I've always envied). He worked at a local dealership that sold Volvo, VW, Porsche, Jaguar, Mercedes, Acura, and then became a sales manager at Lexus when they came to town in 1990. As an aside, I can remember sitting in a Jaguar and a Mercedes and not liking them, even at 5 years old. I can also remember when he used to bring the 1st gen LS home for his demo, and how cool of a car I thought it was compared to the MB. I also loved the 1st gen GS, and wanted to own one... I even figured up how much money I would have to save to buy one when I was about my current age (21). Weird how things worked out...

I can also relate to having so many die-cast cars GFerg... he made me a rack for all of them for a Christmas present one year. It spans nearly floor to ceiling on one wall of my bedroom, and I hope to pass them on to a son of my own one day. I think my estimate of how many I have was around 2000 at one point, not counting all of the 1:18 scale. Waaaayyy too many.
