Default VW Phaeton Facelift

All-new model arrives in 2009

Volkswagen is planning to introduce a slight facelift for the Phaeton next year and therefore give a much needed boost to sales until the new model will arrive in 2009. Main modifications will be the redesigned front grille – reminiscent of the Passat, Polo and Golf GTI – a modified front bumper and a more sculpted bonnet in compliance with enhanced pedestrian protection. Also new will be curved-light headlight system and a DVD navigation system replacing the outdated CD technology. When the all-new model arrives in 2009, it is believed to be more coupe-like than today’s Phaeton and is said to be repositioned half a class below the Audi A8 but still well ahead of the Passat.

That first shot, if you cover the front end, the rear part of it from that angle reminds me of a Ford Five Hundred - and oh, that's not a good thing either.

Somebody at VW is losing their job!!!!

A failed experiment in an ultra-high-end VW model and the facelift makes it look on-par with EVERY other VW?????

Bad move!!!

It even looks smaller!!

Exactly. I was going for the generic Ford look, just couldn't pinpoint which Ford
Side view looks like the mercury milan, esp. with those wheels.

The first gen phaeton looks better than this one.

I thought it won't be in the US.

I'm sure current owners will not care too much of the new model downsizing to a lower class which in turn will downsize theirs as well. Time to just cancel the failure now and leave the rest to Audi.

Nice enough sedan, I guess. It just does not inspire me to run out and get one.

I agree, but the interior will probably be nice.

Wonder what the MSRP will be?

For just $7.00 more, I'd buy an A8.
