Default Engine replacement- JDM or 96 ES 300?

I probably need to replace the 3VZFE in my 92 ES 300. Would an engine from a 96 ES 300 work? I know someone who has one available from a parting out car. Or are JDM any good? They say they have 40,000 to 60,000 on them, but from Japan. How is it they can get so many engines when I can't find one here?

Or should I just wait till I can find a 92 3VZFE?

Thanks!
