World’s most luxurious SUV
According to insider information the famous Volkswagen-owned British car maker Bentley is about to go off road. Dubbed “Cross Continental” the new model is set to rival the Porsche Cayenne, VW Touareg, Cadillac Escalade and Lincoln Navigator.
Hardly known, but the first steps into the SUV market were already made by Bentley years ago when they built just one Range Rover-based 4x4 named Dominator for some very rich and famous celebrity – back then.

Now that the luxury SUV market does not show any signs of slowing down but rather keeps going, Bentley is about to develop a genuine production 4x4 SUV, this time based on the next generation VW Touareg-Porsche Cayenne platform. Development of this platform is currently being tested by using various existing Cayenne mules. The Bentley 4x4 SUV is expected to be powered by a 6.0 litre Twin Turbo W12 engine from the Bentley Continental GT delivering 560 HP.
Its estimated price tag is 120.000 British Pounds. Speculations suggest that at least a concept car for the new model could debut at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show.

2 photos of a red Porsche Cayenne test mule with higher ground clearance and hardening foam insulation in the fender wheelhouses. The purpose of the foam is to seal the seams that were separated when the engineers fitted the drivetrain and chassis components of the new Bentley SUV.

I'd have to say that this is the most pointless SUV ever. Why on earth would I ever take a Bently...ok a Bently off road. And yes to agree with a few others it does look like a hippo. Truth is rich folk will be all over these.

Bentley is not working on or planning an SUV, according to public relations manager David P. Reuter. "We absolutely continue to stand by what we said at lunch. Bentley Motors is the maker of powerful, luxurious, grand touring motor cars and an SUV simply does not fit with our model lineup," Reuter told Winding Road magazine. "We have no intention of producing the vehicle described in these reports." Reuter was referring to a flurry of rumors in recent weeks indicating an SUV was under development. In January, Motor Trend said Volkswagen-owned Bentley scrapped plans for an SUV. Lamborghini — also owned by VW — is said to have scrapped plans for its SUV, too.
