Default need advice on shipping

I am sending 4 wheels with tires to another fellow CL memember.
I havent sent stuff this heavy before so I wanted to know, what's cheaper and better. (the other member has to pay shipping so i want it to be the best for him).
should i use ups of fedex. ups tells me that they dont box the wheels individually but just ship them without boxes.
what's the best way ? p.s. the store hours are the same as working hours with thhe exception of saturdays. would ups charge more for home pickup ?
thnx in advance.

I once used UPS for two boxes each containing two wheels with tires. Both boxes shipped from California to West Virginia for $180.

You may save more if you can fit them all in one box, but that'll be one very big box...

thnx for the input.
what about boxes ? i called ups and they say they usually ship wheels/tires without boxes.
where can i buy boxes that'll fit the 17" wheels with tires. I'll ship them individually boxed i suppose or two each which over one I can manage to find boxes for..

You can find boxes through shipping companies or packing companies. Check out your local yellow pages. They're not that prominent (they don't advertize) but you'll find them. Good luck!

Hi,

Firstly - for the sake of the buyer - USE FEDEX!! Ask Sockfocks why!! Not to mention UPS are a lot more expensive. I have shipped wheels with tires for $30 each. You don't need boxes, just a lot of padding around both the front and rear lip. I have shipped wheels several times and each time it has been painless with FedEx. I have heard several bad stories about UPS.
