I can't wait for an upscale version of the original Rav4 not the latest enlarged version. I hope LEXUS is developing such a vehicle.

Everyone doesn't need an oversized vehicle. Check out the commute platoons tomorrow morning - notice all the single drivers in oversized vehicles.

WTF would Lexus want to make an upscale version of a discontinued model? It wasn't even a nice car to begin with. If they were to make something from a cheapo economy car, it would only add to the bad image of Lexus that BMW and MB owners have. Simply rebadged Toyotas.

BTW, to the guy who suggested a mini van: I hope Lexus never hires you.

According to this http://www.toyota.com/rav4/?s_van=GM_HOME_FLASH_RAV4 the R4 isn't discontinued just updated and enlarged from the TV ads I saw; imo Lexus could easily sell a ton of a smaller upscale SUV, just like BMW does with the 3 series; it will happen because the market is there, and it gives the brand another lower-priced smaller vehicle to upscale at redesign intervals after market entry.

Meaning that the original Rav4 is discontinued.

BTW, the 3-series has been around forever. It's BMW's bread and butter. They base their reputation on it. It's ludacris to compare it to a cheap, rebadged economy car.

Sorry sir, that is not discontinued. DIscontinued is like the Infiinti J30 or Acura CL. They don't make them anymore.

What has happened to the RAv-4 is it ends its model cycle and a new one comes. The Rav-4 has never been discontinued.

Meaning that the original RAV4 is discontinued. The new one is out. Do they still build the original one? No. It's discontinued as it's been replaced. That body style is discontinued. In the case of the J30 or CL, the model is dicontinued.

That's your rebuttle? If it means anything, I do work for a dealership. Besides, what kind of man really wants a mini van? Why would anyone want a Lexus mini van? The GX and RX already function as a 3-row luxury people hauler that most owners don't wheel anyway. That's just making competition for themself. Plus, people who shop for minivans are usually the kind of people who can't afford or don't want a Lexus caliber vehicle. People who shop for Lexi, Mercs, or Bimmers don't want to be seen in mini vans.

So, now that I've actually thought the idea through and deemed it unnecessary, do you still wish I never find a job with Lexus or any other dealerships?

I remember this thread about the Lexus minivan, turns out there was one based on the Toyota Estima, https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...ghlight=estima and I remember seeing some references to it on the Internet a few years ago including possible sale in South Africa outside of Japan.

The RAV4 was never discontinued. It still lives on as the third generation RAV4. The MR2 and the Supra have been discontinued as well as the Infinity G20, I35, M30, J30 and QX4 have been totally discontinued. They do not live as there are no future generations.

Mong, the Rav4 was no more discontinued than the last version of the IS when Lexus modified the vehicle in a 3/4-year model cycle revamp, or the RX for that matter. Plus the last Rav4 was a cute hot car.
Why are you so seemingly averse to an upscale small SUV? Curious?
Lexus could extend its brand with such a vehicle imo and, make a lot of $$$.

and imo so could Lexus if it markets such a vehicle line of small SUVs, minivans etc., I bet it's coming, stay tuned - Lexus is smart.

Whatever your definition of 'discontinued' is, is irrelevent. The point being made is that Toyota wouldn't put the money into a sprucing up a dead body style (the original RAV4) just to put on the Lexus line.

I'm against any low end premier brand cars because they cheapen image. Who wants to drive around in a nice car when someone low on the financial food chain can drive a fully loaded Mercedes, Lexus, or BMW for under $30k? That's not saying that I'm trying to look well-off by driving a Lexus. Hardly the case, as I'll gladly admit, my car was used when I bought it. However, I'd rather drive a nicer, higher end used car than a half assed attempt by a luxury manufacturer to gain sales and cheap popularity.
