Yes, I'm down here in the oc, not LA though.
Liz, did you put the soap and the rain rinse it off?
Oh boy was I happy it rained today. My car was getting pretty skanky it was so dirty. I just parked outside and not in the garage.
I still haven't found a good wash joint in LA tho.

I'm a compulsive detailer, so I won't let anyone touch my cars, and once it gets warm out, it's not uncommon for me to wash my car several times a week. Brush car washes are the worst thing to happen to the auto detailing industry
lol
lol
Since we've had this car, it's been washed by another maybe 4 times. When in for service, I always tell them "no wash".
Funny you mention rain...when it rains, I leave the car out to rinse. Then I get the washing goodies and soap it up. Let the rain rinse it off, pull it in and dry it.
Best part is it seldom leaves water marks like hose water does. Neighbors think I'm nuts to wash the car in the rain (usually the last day of the downpour) but when it stops, the car is clean when the weather clears.
The last time, a neighbor asked how my car is clean the day following the rain.

I'm very **** about my cars. Never ever let anyone touch my cars. I always wash it myself, and dry it with those mircofiber cloths or something, the kind that doesn't leave any of that stuff behind. The little threads that seem to stick to the body.
Then I always wax it.
But then, there's a time when we see people hand washing cars at a cheap price. I can't resist a cheap car wash.

mmarshall,
I find it is okay to wash your car with dish detergent (liquid type) in order to strip down the paint of wax and other grime. However, after that using detergent, you should wax your car.

LOL...someone pulled up my old thread.
fyi, I still have not washed my car since before I started this thread in mid Feb, now it's April. That's a month and a half! I can't find a hand wash place in LA. My car is so gross right now.
