Back to the Corvette. That is JUST what GM needs, isn't it, with all its other problems.....600 HP street Corvettes?
Time for Bob Lutz to get out his veto pen.

If it is blown then it effectively matches the Blue Devil rumor.
LPE is still making "ultimate" vettes. Even a 700 HP factory version won't match up to his (R.I.P. but LPE continues) current 1100+ HP twin-turbo edition (breaking into the 8's in the 1/4 mile, last I heard).
i just wish GM would spend another $5K on interior design and slap their Chevy dealers around to treat vette owners better. I hate Chevy dealers. So far they all suck and Chevy's warranty isn't worth much (too much denial of warranty). I've had my share of problems with my Z06, most recently a cracked wheel with no visible impact near the crack. They would not cover it under warranty. Found a used wheel (good thing because the dealers want $700 for that one wheel) but Chevy can kiss my @ss!

Yeah, I'd love to see what Motor Trend says was released as a SS. Now, I am uncertain, but Chevy may have made prototypes with the SS badge, but now production model ever wore it.

Chevy DID, in effect, release Corvette " SS " models. They were just given other designations instead of SS....things like Cross-Fire, LT-1, L82, ZR-1, Z06, etc.......

Semantics. The SS badge still was never attached to a vette.

CHICAGO -- Chevrolet is looking at adding a Corvette model with more horsepower than the 505-hp Z06, says Ed Peper, Chevrolet general manager.
"We look at what Z06 has done in the marketplace, and we can't keep them in stock," Peper said at the Chicago Auto Show. The 2006 Z06 carries a $65,690 sticker price, including destination.
