Info on a Range Rover sport
Isn't Land Rover at the absolute BOTTOM of initial quality and long-term quality reports? I'm talking below Kia, Suzuki, and Isuzu-kind-of bottom of the rankings.
That alone would keep me away, but then jwa's first-hand experience and honest assessment of the vehicle's flaws will keep me FAR away.

The RRS was a second vehicle for me. I don't drive it daily, and I don't drive it in urban traffic; if I did, then the design flaws and reliability would have carried more weight. In that case, I would have chose the GX over the RRS.
It would be great if you could have Lexus quality with the RRS performance and styling, but you can't. If Lexus want to bring a truck to the market with added style and performance, I'll be more than willing to trade up.
i've been scouring the internet, particularly the jd power site, but the RRS is so new there isnt any data on it so far. I know the majority of the problems that were associated w/ the LR name were partly due to the Discovery and the LR3... Now the RRS is essentially an LR3 in a more athletic suit...it just worries me down the line when/after the warranty expires. But on the flip side, i usually dont keep my cars past their warranty anyway...hmmm. I dont know, it's a tough call, as it's a lot of money to spend on a vehicle...but on the plus side i'll be using this as a write off if get this gig w/ T-mobile.
I just have to decide if it's short commings outweigh its positives.

test drove some of the land rovers,,,,, and bmw's and infiniti's,,,,, infiniti fx35, drove nice,,, nothing exciting,,, interior was ok,,, didnt have the fx45,,, for the price,,, this might be a good option if i dont feel like dropping too much money,,,, the 06 range rover hse,,,, is still really nice,, very smooth,,, not too sporty but luxurious....... range rover sport supercharged wasnt as exciting to drive as i expected,,,,,, the bmw x5 4.8,,,, drove the best,,,, fastest,,, best sounding out there,,, had the panormic roof,,, interior was not as great as the range rover's,,,,, but it was very fun to drive,,,, only thing is the design is gonna be changed this year...... out of the three,,,, the range rover sport was the best looking though,,,,,, gonna be tough,,,, probably gonna wait to see which car i can get the best deal on out of the bmw and land rover.....
I personally think that in the same price range the Lexus LX470 is a much better vehicle, quality-wise.....for years Land Rover has languished at the bottom of both Consumer Reports and J.D. Power reliability rankings. However, Range Rovers do have some very nice features. They are quite plush inside, are immensely capable off-road, offer multi-adjustable compterized power, transmission, and chassis settings for varying road ( or off-road ) conditions, and offer that off-road capability along with a smooth on-road ride as well....unusual in many other SUVs. As far as the question of supercharged vs. regular versions, my own opinion here, though.......given the Land Rover's generally sub-par reliability record, I think you would be wise to avoid the supercharger....it is just one more complex piece of hardware under the hood to potentially fail.
And yes.......money. This vehicle is no econobox.

as far as discounts,,,,,,, i have a buddy who works for mitsubishi,,,, and she had her gm call over to one of the land rover dealerships,,,, and they are giving us a killer deal on the supercharged sport,,,, kinda crazy cause mission viejo is still marking theirs up 15k...... the 4.8 x5 i drove was a 2005, msrp was 73k,,,,, it had a hundred miles on it,,, and they were running a special on it for 66k.....
Really??? how crazy is the deal? You can PM
I may just wait till the 07's come and see how the demand is. I swear though, tonight my wife and i went to maggiano's in south coast and there were two of the RRS parked within 2 stalls fo each other...on the way there we saw a vesivius orange RRS SC in aliso and the other night picking up dinner from wahoo's there were two more in the towne center parking lot. I think this is fast becoming standard issue for South OC people *shrugs* i should just drive my GS and be content

My daily car is the 2006 GS300 with ML and Nav. I drive the RRS on weekends and on the few occasions I need the extra storage space. Where the GS300 is effortless and thoughtless to use and drive, the RRS often requires pause and thought. The RRS just doesn't have the same level of refinement and thoughtful design you find in Lexus models.
A few negatives you should consider when you go for the test drive:
-The spedometer and tachometer are extremely difficult to see during daylight.
-The heating coils in the heated windshield are very visible and distracting at night.
-The shifter blocks most of the HVAC controls from the driver.
-Navigation includes very few preset destinations and POI's.
-There's no console compartment for small items like sunglasses.
-The key is integrated into the key fob and is too big to carry in my pants pocket.
-The clock is almost impossible to see. It's easier to look at your watch.
-The cargo doors and hood have to be slammed shut.
-The windows don't have one-touch open and close.
For me, the performance and styling outweighed the ergonomic annoyances; however, if I had to give up the GS300 and drive the RRS everyday, I would probably have gone with the GX470 instead.

Your local Atlanta Lexus club, but the RRS would be more than welcome
