I love the commercials, isn't it what Luxury is all about. I think they captured it perfectly and serves as a great example of advertising true luxury (excess) cars is all about. Personally I grow tired of the winding road perfomance commercials they're all the exact same, to much advertisement of sport. Jag took it back to the true roots of showing off shameless luxury. Lexus your turn.

The commercial impressed me more with all the gorgeous women (and men? ) than with the new XK.
The new XK site, however, is one of the best new car introductory websites I've seen. Everything is beautifully presented and does a fine job impressing viewers. The engine sound is heard everywhere too. The way they present the sound clips under the 4.2 Litre V8 Engine and Acoustic Refinement sections after you click on Drive really is something Lexus can probably learn from:

Looks like Jaguar is going back to its successful US magazine campaigns of the '50's when the marque was sold on its looks and the cachet of elegance . . .polo fields, beautiful people, yachts, more beautiful people . . . The pitch is if you want to be a beautiful people, buy two or three of these . . .
It was a lifestyle ad - introduced by Ned Jordan in his copy for the Jordan "Playboy" back in 1923:
It was the first advertising to sell the "sizzle" rather than the steak - notice there is not one word about the car itself - just the kind of person who would drive it. Notice too, that the ad - that appeared in the Saturday Evening Post, was directed at women - a new market niche for automobiles . . . the trust fund baby. The Playboy was ultimately unsuccessful - because it couldn't live up to the advertising.
The ad, if not the car, remains a classic - often described as the finest ad copy ever written.
