Default Inflating tires

Is it possible to use a bike pump to inflate the tires on my car? I'm talking about the floorstanding kind that you pump by hand. Anyone tried it before, or am I out of my mind?

I guess if you had the right attachment, the one that will fit over the valve stem for a car, then you could affix that to the bike pump and use it, but it would still be a hell of a lot of work/labor to pump i think. But i don't think the normal head of the bike pimp will fit over the tire valve stem. I have a small air compressor and picked up the attachment head at home depot, so I inflate my tires at home using the air compressor.

Yes yes it is...

if youre strong enough.. inflating to 35 psi... by hand will be very very taxing.

I vote for OOYM.

Go to pep boys and blow $15 on a good 12V electric model to carry in the trunk.

I don't think it would be humanly possible to pump up to 35psi.

You don't have to use a hand pump. There are good, small, portable air compressors that plug into the cigarette lighter. Of course they will not fill the tire at anywhere near the speed of a gas-station air compressor, but they will easily do 35 psi if you will wait a few minutes.
Interdynamics and other companies make some good ones.........I keep one myself in my trunk.

The common bicycle has a Schrader valve...same as on car tires. Most quality bicycle pumps will accept a schrader or presta valve. As for pumping...I've done it a couple times when the little compressor was dead. On a bike, the twin tube Zefal did 10 psi per stroke, due to the volume on the car tire, it was about 5 pumps per pound. So going from 25-32...har-har.
